This 1863 photograph shows a studio shot of a man sitting, with a child on his lap. The man is in a destar (turban), a coat over a baju melayu together with a samping (a type of short waist wrap or sarong worn by men over their trousers). The image was digitized from a Sachtler & Co. album entitled “Views and types of Singapore, 1863”. Title information from donor.
