Son of owner of Hiap Chuan Joo sawmill at back of lorry loaded with crates



Hiap Chuan Joo was one of the largest sawmill factories in Singapore. Located at Balestier it produced wooden crates used for beverages including Coca-Cola and Tiger Beer. Taken in the 1950s this photograph shows Ng Siew Hock, third son of Ng Boon Huay (owner of Hiap Chuan Joo sawmill) at the factory. Ng is standing at the back of a lorry loaded with "Red Lion" crates. Workers can be seen on the lorry and on the right. Title devised by Library staff.
