Masjid Hajjah Fatimah minaret : general view [3]

This 1967 photograph shows the minaret of Masjid Hajjah Fatimah, on Java Road. Built between 1845 and 1846, the mosque was named after Hajjah Fatimah, a wealthy businesswoman. The minaret has a unique design that reflects the shape of a church's spire. It tilts six degrees towards the mosque's dome and thus has gained fame as Singapore's "leaning tower". Title devised by Library staff.
