This 1983 photograph shows Bras Basah Road (at Dhoby Ghaut junction). It depicts a row of three storeys shophouses with a Nikon advertisement sign. Bras Basah is Malay for wet rice. In the early days, wet rice was laid to dry here on the banks of the Sungei Bras Basah, now known as the Stamford Canal. Title devised by Library staff.
