This 1982 photograph shows Circular Road. Rows of shophouses and cars line both sides of the street. One of the shophouses, Tan Hun Seng (S) Pte. Ltd. (陳漢盛) can be seen on the left of the image. The Expressionist style shophouse designed by Ho Kwong Yew, one of Singapore's well-known architects, can also be seen at the intersection between Circular Road and Lorong Telok. Circular Road is so-named because it follows the curve of the Singapore River. Title devised by Library staff.
