This 1986 photograph shows a shophouse at no. 217 Syed Alwi Road (at corner of Townshend Road). The two-storey shophouse has lattice glass windows on the upper floor with openings at the top and bottom of the windows, for additional light and ventilation. The doorway of the shop on the ground floor is affixed with metal grilles. Title devised by Library staff.
