Chinese sampan at Tanjong Rhoo, Singapore

A black-and-white postcard showing four men in a sampan or boat, plying across Tanjong Rhu waters with stilt houses in the background. One man rowed, seemingly ferrying the other three men as passengers. A long wooden bridge that spanned the entire postcard provided access to the village. Many Chinese in Tanjong Rhu were in the boatbuilding, sawmills and firewood or charcoal trade. There were also Hylam fishermen in Tanjong Rhu. This card has a divided back. Date of creation estimated.
