Raffles Place, 1962 : general view [1]

This photograph shows the Raffles Place area (formerly known as Commercial Square), with cars parked both around and at the centre. The Robinson's Department Store, with its iconic statue of Eros, stands on the left. The Department Store was destroyed by a fire in 1972 and the current site is now occupied by the OUB Centre. The Chartered Bank Building (centre) and the John Little's Department Store (right) are the other major landmarks which can be seen in the photograph. Title devised by Library staff.
