Neil Road house, 1969 : general view [2]

This 1969 photograph shows the three-storey residence of the Wee family, descendents of 19th century shipping tycoon Wee Bin on Neil Road. Features include wooden casement windows with fanlight, decorative bas-relief panels carved with Chinese figurative scenes below each of the half-length windows. The house has since been converted into the Tan Cheng Lock Baba House Museum. Seen above the door is a plaque inscribed with Chinese characters (种盛). Title devised by Library staff.
