This 1983 photograph shows New Bridge Road, from near Carpenter Street (towards South Canal Road). It shows a view of a street with shophouses on the right, and commercial buildings in the right background, one of which is still under construction. Built in 1842, New Bridge Road was named after Coleman's New Bridge which was constructed over the Singapore River in 1840. Title devised by Library staff.
