This 1982 photograph depicts Orchard Road (southwards from Clemenceau Avenue northeast corner). It shows a view of a tree-lined street with a traffic junction, and a pedestrian crossing in the foreground. Orchard Road supposedly got its name from the orchards and plantations that existed in the area until the turn of the 20th century. It is now a major tourist and shopping belt. Title devised by Library staff.
