This photograph shows among others the Asia Insurance Building, as seen from Clifford Pier. The building which had been completed about six years earlier has a distinctive concrete crown on its stepped roof. Starting from the left are a bungalow-type building, then a side view of Denmark House (a modern office building), the Asia Insurance (AIA) Building, the KPM Building (subsequently renamed to NedLloyd House around 1970). Next is the Ocean Building, the big five storey building surmounted by a rounded cupola and flags that directly faces the Clifford Pier carpark. It was pulled down in the early seventies. This is followed by a low two-storey building, and finally the Alkaff Arcade. The Alkaff Arcade is seen on the right edge of the photograph, though it is partially blocked by a section of Clifford Pier itself. Title devised by Library staff.
