Sussex Estate no. 38 : exterior

This 1992 photograph shows a close up front view of a double-storey house at no. 38 Sussex Estate at Horsham Road. It shows the doorway and windows with grilles of the ground floor of the house. Sussex Estate is named after the historic county of Sussex in England. The roads in the area has “English” sounding names such as Horsham, Arundel and Goodwood. The estate was developed in the mid-1950s to house the families of British senior non-commissioned officers. In 1975 when Clementi was being developed, Sussex Estate was the only pre-development feature that was retained, but it was later demolished in 1997. The area where Clementi Avenue 1 is, used to be Sussex Estate.Title devised by Library staff.
