This is a group photograph of the seven members of the 1905-06 Committee of the Anti-Opium Association of Penang. Dr. Wu Lien-teh, a Penang-born Chinese doctor well-known as the father of modern medicine in China and the physician who fought the Manchurian plague, is the gentleman on the right. This was taken in the premises of the Association. The Chinese name of the Association (戒烟社) can be seen on the signboard above the door in the background. The door which is behind the gentlemen is flanked by a staircase on both sides. Title devised by Library staff.
