Semi-underground dwellings for coal miners at Dalainor

Forty to sixty men often lived together. Hot-beds for plague. This photograph shows part of an underground hut for coal miners in Jalainor. It is half-buried in earth. Only the windows, chimney and entrance are visible. This was taken on 11 February 1921. Title devised by Library staff.
