Geishas



This postcard from the “Lim Shao Bin Collection” features a photograph that shows seven women dressed in Japanese traditional costume. The woman on the left is standing up and holding a fan in her hand, while the rest are seated and playing musical instruments. These ladies are known as geishas. Some words are written at the top of the photograph, and the word "Singapore" as well as the date “Dec 1907” are written at the bottom of the photograph. The back of the postcard contains a message to Mr Wilson, who is staying in France. A Straits Settlements postage stamp is affixed at the top right-hand corner. Title devised by Library staff.
