Hiap Chuan Joo was one of the largest sawmill factories in Singapore. Located at Balestier it produced wooden crates used for beverages including Coca-Cola and Tiger Beer. Taken in the 1950s this photograph shows three female workers carrying "Red Lion" crates at the sawmill factory. The crates are to be passed to workers on the lorry behind the female workers. Title devised by Library staff.
