This 1984 photograph depicts Joo Chiat Road, at Fowlie Road corner. It shows a road lined with two-storey shophouses. The building is supported by concrete columns and pilasters. Vehicles are parked in the parking lots provided along the road. One of the shops which is featured has the name, "Nam Hiang Wee" and the logos of two brands of drinks, Pepsi and Miranda on either side of the sign placed across the front of the shop. A man on a bicycle rides in front of the shop. Joo Chiat Road is named after Chew Joo Chiat, a well-known Chinese landowner and coconut plantation owner. Title devised by Library staff.
