This is a pre-1914 photograph from E. A. Brown's collection. It shows a vegetable seller squatting by the roadside, in front of a row of shophouses. The vegetables are laid out for sale on several bamboo trays and baskets. A carrying pole used for transporting the vegetables is placed against a pillar next to the vegetable seller.
