This 1967 photograph shows a forecourt leading to a house at Emerald Hill Road that features a set of swinging doors (pintu pagar) and bat-shaped vents. The swinging doors are a typical feature of Peranakan houses, allowing in breezes while maintaining privacy. Part of the forecourt's floor is laid with floor tiles with geometric patterns.
