This 1982 photograph shows the eastern side of Tanjong Pagar Road (between Cook Street and Wallich Street). There are shophouses along one side of the road. Tanjong Pagar means "cape of stakes" in Malay, and the road is probably named for the kelongs found in the sea near the area. The roads mentioned are in the Tanjong Pagar area.
