This 1992 photograph depicts the canal at Lorong 36 Geylang. The backs of houses are visible to the right of the photograph, while on the left, a grove of trees can be seen. Geylang is believed to be a corruption of the term "kilang", Malay for factory, from the coconut and lemongrass processing factories of the area. Title devised by Library staff.
