A G.R. Lambert & Co. 1921 photograph of a gambier plantation, with several Malay workers. Gambier is a common ingredient in betelnut chewing. It also found a big market in the British dyeing and tanning industry, in the 1830s. Title devised by Library staff. Date of creation estimated.
