This 1968 photograph shows a row of shophouses on Keong Saik Road, likely from the transition style (early 1900s) as evidenced by the tall storey heights and restrained ornamentation. Running through the first floor of the buildings is a five-foot-way arcade, a distinctive feature of shophouses in Southeast Asia meant to protect pedestrians from weather elements.
