This 1983 photograph shows Tew Chew Street, towards New Bridge Road, with shophouses on the right, and low-rise commercial buildings at the far end. The road sign for Chin Hin Street can be seen on the right side of the photograph. Tew Chew Street was named after the Teochew people who came from Swatow in northern Guangdong province.
