Hiap Chuan Joo was one of the largest sawmill factories in Singapore. Located at Balestier it produced wooden crates used for beverages including Coca-Cola and Tiger Beer. Taken in the 1950s this photograph shows workers unloading crates from a lorry at the sawmill factory. A worker on the lorry is tossing a crate to another on the ground.
