This 1966 photograph shows a shophouse on East Coast Road. This house has swinging doors (pintu pagar) in front of its main door. Swinging doors are typical of Peranakan houses, providing privacy while allowing in breezes. Above the entrance is a gilded plaque called ji hoo, bearing the family name. Date of creation estimated. Title devised by Library staff.
