This photograph, presumably taken between 1880 and 1889, shows a view of the Geylang Police Station. The Singapore Police Force is believed to have been formed in 1819 with just eleven men under Francis James Bernard (son-in-law of William Farquhar). The force in early Singapore was headed by the Europeans, and made up primarily of Malays and Indians. Title devised by Library staff.
