This 1992 photograph shows Lorong 39 Geylang, from Geylang Road. It shows a view of two-storey shophouses at the junction of the two roads. Geylang is believed to be a corruption of the term "kilang", Malay for factory, from the coconut and lemongrass processing factories of the area. Title devised by Library staff.
