This 2004 photograph shows the flea market at Sungei Road, with Sim Lim Square and nearby buildings in the background. Also popularly known as Thieves’ Market, it is the largest and oldest flea market in Singapore. Here under rows of canvas sheets, vendors spread their wares on the pavement filled with second-hand goods and old bri-a-brac. Here locals hunt for cheap replacement for old faulty or lost items.
