This 1982 photograph shows a row of houses (dated 1913) at Hastings Road, next to Serangoon Road corner. Hastings Road is named after Warren Hastings (1732 - 1818), the Governor-General of Bengal, who gave Raffles permission to create a trading station somewhere south of Malacca.
