Dr. Wu Lien-teh, extreme right. This photograph shows seven medical officers and three men in uniforms in Harbin during plague times. The medical officers are in protective gowns that fully cover their bodies except their hands. The upper parts of the faces of the man on the left and Dr. Wu are exposed while the lower halves are covered by masks. The other five officers have their faces covered save for two holes for their eyes. The three men in uniforms are wearing face masks. This was taken in 1921. Title devised by Library staff.
