Heeren Street, no. 111, 1966 : interior [4]

This 1966 photograph shows a gilded Chinese plaque with the Chinese characters, hung above the door. Chinese frescoes are painted above the casement windows. Two wooden bookcases and wooden armchairs are seen lined up against the wall. This house is the ancestral home to the late Tun Dato Sri Sir Cheng-lock Tan in Malacca. He was the founder of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA), which advocated his cause for the Malaysian Chinese population. Title devised by Library staff.
