This 1993 photograph shows Tanjong Katong Road (from opposite Poole Road, southwards). Shophouses can be seen along the road. Tanjong Katong is Malay for turtle point. Katong is the name of a species of sea turtles now extinct. The name can also mean the rippling effect of a mirage across the shoreline. Title devised by Library staff.
