This 1966 photograph shows the first floor of a terrace house, together with its swinging doors. These swinging doors (pintu pagar) are a typical feature of Peranakan houses, allowing in breezes while maintaining privacy. An elaborately ornate pintu pagar (swinging doors) at the front door and two casement windows, with security iron bars, can be seen. Black lacquered gilded Chinese plaques and couplets decorate the terrace house front. This house most probably is in Malacca. Title devised by Library staff.
