This 1992 photograph shows Lorong 1 Geylang, towards Geylang Road (from Jalan Ayer). Rows of two-storey shophouses line one side of the road. Geylang is believed to be a corruption of the Malay word "kilang", which means factory. Title devised by Library staff.
