Hiap Chuan Joo was one of the largest sawmill factories in Singapore. Located at Balestier it produced wooden crates used for beverages including Coca-Cola and Tiger Beer. Taken on 3 November 1963 this photograph shows a view of the sawmill factory. A forklift is parked on the right, outside the main factory building. In the centre of the photograph is a worker carrying a wooden block in each hand. Title devised by Library staff.
