This 1984 photograph depicts a row of two-storey shophouses at Joo Chiat Road (west side, East Coast Road corner). Several trishaws can be seen parked in front of the shophouses. Joo Chiat Road is named after Chew Joo Chiat, a well-known Chinese landowner and coconut plantation owner. Title devised by Library staff.
