Hiap Chuan Joo was one of the largest sawmill factories in Singapore. Located at Balestier it produced wooden crates used for beverages including Coca-Cola and Tiger Beer. Taken on 12 December 1964 this photograph shows a view of the factory. On the left a forklift is parked near stacks of planks. Two workers are seen on one of the stacks.
