Hiap Chuan Joo was one of the largest sawmill factories in Singapore. Located at Balestier it produced wooden crates used for beverages including Coca-Cola and Tiger Beer. Taken in the 1950s this photograph shows Ng Siew Hoo, second son of the owner of the sawmill factory with four business associates, three Caucasians and one Asian, at the factory. Ng is second from the right. "Tiger" crates can be seen in the background. Title devised by Library staff.
