This 1995 photograph shows Alexandra Road. Prominently featured in the photograph is a block of houses, called the Princess House. Constructed in the mid 1950s, Princess House was built by the Singapore Improvement Trust (S.I.T.) as part of the Queenstown satellite town. Alexandra Road was laid out in 1864 and named after Queen Alexandra (1844 - 1925), consort of King Edward VII. Title devised by Library staff.
