Hiap Chuan Joo was one of the largest sawmill factories in Singapore. Located at Balestier it produced wooden crates used for beverages including Coca-Cola and Tiger Beer. Taken between 23 and 24 January 1954 this photograph shows roofing works being done at the construction site of the sawmill factory at No. 516 Balestier Road. A worker is seen on the roof of the main factory building. Title devised by Library staff.
