This 2004 photograph shows street barbers at work, giving their customers a haircut. The barbers set up shop in a back alley at Jalan Klapa or Aliwal Street. A tarpaulin canopy acts as a shelter for the barbers to provide their services. Mirrors hanging on wall, barber chairs and red plastic chairs in a stack are some of the tools of the trade seen in the photograph. Title devised by Library staff.
