Samsui women at work, 1986 : general view [5]

This photograph depicts three Samsui women working on the grooves between tiles at the MOE (Ministry of Education) building. Samsui women are usually dressed in their characteristic samsui red headgear and blue samfoo (sometimes spelt samfu), a tunic-and-trouser suit. (The blue headgear is either a mark of mourning or distinguishes them as coming from the Sun Yap area in China.). Title devised by Library staff. Date of creation estimated.
