Hiap Chuan Joo was one of the largest sawmill factories in Singapore. Located at Balestier it produced wooden crates used for beverages including Coca-Cola and Tiger Beer. Taken on 3 November 1963 this photograph shows planks undergoing chemical treatment using Hickson's Timber equipment at the sawmill factory. Title devised by Library staff.
