Lee Kip Lin's House : General View, 1

A photograph showing Lee Kip Lin's House from the garden. Located in Binjai Park, the house was designed by Lee and built in 1973. It has been designated as a modernist tropical house. From the street, the 353 square metres is unassuming, with its white-painted brick and plaster walls, and sloping, red-tiled roof. But from within, the house showcases its tropical architectural elements. For instance, it boasts a high ceiling with exposed timber beams and rafters. It also has unobstructed, seamless access to the living room, dining room, veranda and garden. The open layout draws in natural light and breeze to create a spacious and airy feel, making the interior seem larger than it is and more importantly cooling.
