This photograph shows a general view of Bukit Timah. The former Ford Factory with its Art Deco façade is seen at the foot of the hill on the left, while the low-rise buildings on the right are possibly part of Hume Industries’ factory complex. The Ford Factory is the location where the British forces surrendered to Japanese forces after the Battle of Singapore, during World War II. Captions on the image in Japanese read: “「ブキテマ」附近” and “敵英軍降伏ノ場所武威山麓「フォード」自動車工場”. Title devised by Library staff.
