This is a photograph from E. A. Brown's collection. It shows several Malay passenger sampans lined up for a race at the New Year Sea Sports, on 1 January 1925. The annual regatta is held at the Singapore Harbour, off Collyer Quay. The Varuna can also be seen in the back ground on the right.
