Syed Alwi Road, opposite King George's Avenue : general view

This 1982 photograph shows the south-western side of Syed Alwi Road (opposite to King George's Avenue bend dated 1950). It shows a view of a street with shophouse buildings along the roadside. Syed Alwi Road was earlier known as Syed Allie Road, named after Arab merchant Syed Allie Bin Mohamed Al Junied. He is the nephew of Syed Omar bin Ali Aljunied who was one of the early pioneers of modern Singapore. Title devised by Library staff.
