This 1992 photograph depicts the canal at Lorong 36 Geylang from Guillemard Road junction (northwards). The backs of houses are visible to the right of the photograph. There are also shady trees along both sides of the canal. Geylang is believed to be a corruption of the term "kilang", Malay for factory, from the coconut and lemongrass processing factories of the area. Title devised by Library staff.
